Blue Waters

What's up Mofo Chronicle-ville!

As you know.. I'm a HUGE Jackson fan and I recently got the opportunity to speak to one of my fav Jacksons..the bad boy of the family... Siggy 'Dealz' Jackson. He's the son of Jackie Jackson and a talented brotha in his own right. If you recall, he was actually the first person I interviewed in 2011 that made me realize that I love doing this which in turn led me to pursue writing for Soultrain.com, so blame him LOL but seriously, I owe him a huge thank you for that! AND in 2011 I also told you then he had skillz on the mic, but y'all don't listen to Meik Meik..but then you saw firsthand when he appeared on the Monique Show and well.... TOLD YOU SO!

Anyway, the timing of our conversation was ironic, since it was literally a year ago when I met Dealz and his sister Brandi in Cali. It's amazing to see how far they have come a long in their Jackson Truth Radio show, and the great news is.. Dealz has new music! Yes... ya'll.. NEW MUSIC. I said it.. and a new EP and album is on the way.. *insert squeal here*

Dealz recently released a new song called "Blue Waters" and...I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Why do you love it so much Meik?

I'm so glad you asked!

The thing about his latest single "Blue Waters" is it speaks volumes to me. I have been in this weird space lately of feeling like no matter how hard I push, fight, and try to claw my way to my goals and dreams. So ever since Dealz released the single, it has stayed on repeat at my house and in my car. In the song, he reminded me that sometimes you have to appreciate the "Blue Waters" ..which this also goes hand in hand with a sermon I heard a few weeks ago about appreciating the journey and not getting frustrated. *let that marinate for a second*

Anyway, without me continuing to ramble on.. I asked Dealz about his inspiration for the song and he said " Even in the darker days, I can still find light, so I guess that’s where “Blue Waters” comes in, because no matter how hard you push, no matter how hard you try, life breaks you down, and so do the mistakes you make in life. You have to find the blue waters, dig through the shit to find your gold. You can’t quit, that’s what the song is about, no matter how dark it gets, no matter how bad life seems, there’s only one way to go up when you are at the bottom."

The fact that he said 'shit' just did something to my soul. *sniggle* Now do you see why I love him so? He keeps it real and is so inspiring all at once. *swoons* But more importantly, he's right, once you feel like you've hit rock bottom, there's nowhere else to go but up, so GET UP and KEEP REACHING FOR YOUR DREAMS! *side note: wonder if he needs a hype woman cuz....*

I also asked Dealz if he had ever thought about becoming a motivational speaker, because for me, just listening to him and his positive uplifting attitude, inspired me, so can you imagine what he could do for others? Dealz responded, "I think the only way I could go that path of becoming a motivational speaker is if I could get people to look at me and not look up to me. I think when you become a motivational speaker, you become sort of an icon and the moment you mess up, you kill people’s hopes. I know I’m a human being, which is why I’d rather have people look at me, not up to me. Most people forget that the music business is just a business, and it’s like a presidential job in a certain way. People look at you in a certain way and you have to live up to that."

He better SAY THAT!!! *jumps up and down clapping* chile, someone pass me a fune home church fan...

And of course I asked him the all important question: ARE YOU SINGLE?

And...well.....

Wouldn't you like to know?! *sniggle* That's for me to know and you to guess LOL!

But that's just a snippet of the upcoming interview.. you know darn well I wasn't going to post it in its entirety here.. but you can find the rest on soultrain.com next week! Keep checking my twitter page for the link (@Mofochronicles) and while you're at it, check out the snippet to his single "Blue Waters" and follow him on twitter @OfficialDealz and check out his website at Dealzmusic.com. (It's also located on my blog roll in case you want to come back to it later)

Lesson Learned: From this conversation with Dealz I learned that I have to be thankful for everything, I am blessed, and I have to keep pushing to get to the finish line, but a positive attitude can help get you there faster than a negative 'tude. Thank you Dealz for reminding me about the "Blue Waters!"

Now.. run to Itunes and buy this single, I'm sure you can use some daily inspiration!

So... What do you think of the song? Does it inspire you? Have you found your "Blue Waters?"

~Until Later..
