Hey Mofos!

One of my favorite people stopped by Check the Rhymes TV last month to chat about his 28th project. Yep, you guessed it, Will Downing. He released the album "Luscious" last month and after writing that title 50'levum times, I think I finally know how to spell it LOL.

As always, we cut up, cackled, and had a serious moment.

Have you listened to the album? What did you think?

Hey Mofos!

I don't know about y'all but I love watching a series with Black women empowered and doing their thing. I binge watched "Run the World" a while back and have been waiting IMPATIENTLY for season 2 and it's finally here. It reminds me of a Black "Sex and the City" kind of with a little "Living Single" mixed in for good measure.

It comes on Starz and well.. check out the interview with the show's stars on Check the Rhymes TV!

Do you have a character you resonate with? Renee is mine!

Hey Mofos!

It's time for "Insecure" to kick off it's 5th and final season and I don't know about you, I AM NOT READY! I had the opportunity to chat with actress Yvonne Orji for PARADE Magazine and Check the Rhymes about a new docuseries raising awareness around the disparities Black women face in healthcare. We also talked about raising awareness about triple-negative breast cancer, plus we had to get into Molly and Issa's friendship! Now, I know Orji has been getting a bad rap on social media these past couple of weeks, but she was pleasant to chat with during my interview.

Check out the interview here:

What are you most excited for this season? Are you Team Issa or Team Lawrence?

"Insecure" premieres on HBO tonight!

I can't wait to check this out!

Hey Mofos!

I got to chat with Tyrese about his new partnership with his travel company Voltron Travel. First, I have to give him a shout out for taking the time to chat with the smaller outlets about this because we are often told our outlet isn't top tier and not worthy enough of being included at the table, but I am always appreciative when celebs include us in the conversation.

Now back to the scheduled program.. check out the interview on Check the Rhymes:

Here's some more details about the partnership from the press release:

Tyrese Gibson, international box office star and six-time GRAMMY Award® nominee announced an exclusive partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and Voltron Travel, LLC, of which he is CEO and President. TMCF provides scholarships and other educational opportunities for thousands of students every year.  Gibson, currently starring in F9: The Fast Saga says, “Partnering with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund is a true privilege. Voltron Travel is fully committed to empowering black excellence by investing in the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders.” To kick-start the partnership, Gibson has initially pledged $100,000 of Voltron Travel’s profits based on a percentage of net sales.

In addition, the collaboration will launch with an exciting opportunity to directly impact HBCU students’ classroom experience. The “Back-to-School Success Kit" will provide select students from across the Black College Community an opportunity to receive a “success” package including school supplies and gear and travel vouchers.

TMCF member-schools include America’s publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs). As the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black College Community, TMCF works to help identify and nurture HBCU students to become the next generation of global leaders.

Gibson recently relaunched Voltron Travel, an online travel platform powered by Priceline® Partner Network. It is currently the first and only Black-owned service of its kind dedicated to providing an exceptional booking experience for people of color.

Hey Mofos!

I am so hype for this installment of the "Power" Universe! "Power Book III: Raising Kanan" premieres on STARZ on July 18.

Ahead of its season one series premiere,STARZ has greenlit a second season of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.” The season renewal comes amidst strong demand for the upcoming premiere of the third book in the growing “Power” Universe franchise.

Set in South Jamaica Queens in the early ‘90s, the prequel about the early years of the now-deceased iconic “Power” character Kanan Stark, portrayed in the original “Power” series by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.  Ahead of the premiere, I had the pleasure of chatting with some of the cast and the showrunner/executive producer! I'm still fan girling over Omar Epps!

Get into the interviews here:

Will you be watching this series? I definitely will be tuned in!

Check it out cuz he is a helluva story teller:

Did you have a favorite Father M.C. song? Lemme know in the comments!
